40 years in the dark, finally back in the light.
We are thrilled to bring to you this rare opportunity to experience a monumental 22-by-10-foot mural by artist Norval Morrisseau, a masterwork that has not been seen by the public for over 40 years.
This untitled work depicts a gathering of human figures, animals, birds, and spiritual beings within a Woodland-style scene, the work invites viewers to consider the sacred connections between people, nature, and spirit.
Created during a lesser-known period in Morrisseau’s career (1985–1987), when he worked above the Maligne Canyon Tea House in Jasper, Alberta. As is characteristic of Morrisseau, this period of his professional life was marked by many people in the artist’s orbit, including friends, patrons, and art dealers such as Galal Helmy, the founder of commercial art gallery EA Studios and current owner of the work.
